Our Story & Social Impact
The Clay Day is a social enterprise established in 2015.
Like its name, we focus on clay ceramic handicraft products. We recognise that in the modern world of mass produced goods, there is a charm in purposefully handmade products. No two items are exactly the same, as each ceramic product is individually handcrafted, painted, glazed and fired in kilns. This process takes several days and is done with utmost care and quality control, to ensure you get a masterpiece you will be proud of wearing and using.
In our business, we seek to partner with ethical and responsible workshops and social enterprises who hire socially disadvantaged artisans and apprentices. Beneficiaries include single mothers, young people from orphanages, the low income and the hearing impaired. Currently, we have partnered with two workshops in Cambodia.
The artisans are provided with warm home cooked meals, education, skills training and sustainable employment in a safe working environment. Flexible working conditions are also provided for those with children.
We also proactively collaborate with like-minded businesses and partners in Singapore who give back to communities by primarily hiring underprivileged or disadvantaged individuals in their operations.
In line with our ethical business approach, being sustainable is a big deal to us as well! Wherever possible, we package our products with recycled bubble wraps, styrofoam stuffings, kraft boxes and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified mix label paper materials as well.
We want you to know that you can make a difference as well. With every purchase, you would have added immeasurable value and dignity to each product maker's life.
Everyone deserves a new day. Thank you for making their day.
